Anal Cancer Symptoms

Anal cancer is a disease that affects the anus, the opening of the rectum to the outside of the body. It is an uncommon cancer, in which cancer (malignant) cells are found in the anus.

Following are the anal cancer symptoms which when encountered must immediately be verified from your GP.

• Bleeding and from the rectum along with pain or pressure in the area around the anus, itching or discharge mucous from the anus.
• Some people develop small firm lumps which may be similar to those formed during piles.
• There may be a reduction in one's ability to control bowel function, a change in bowel habits, change in stool dimensions with swollen lymph nodes in the groin area.
• Occasionally anal cancer can appear as an ulcerated area and may spread to the skin of the buttocks.

Generally, anal cancer symptoms resemble those in other less fatal disorders, like pain, itching and bleeding around the anus. Sometimes there are hardly any anal cancer symptoms visible. At such instances, the cancer is only identified during routine checkups.
